According to Nissan the Sylphy is based on the Alliance B platform shared with the Renault Clio III and Tiida/Versa. The Sylphy's Alliance B platform is of course stretched, making the car long but narrow. The new USDM Sentra is based on the wider Alliance C platform which is also used by the Renault Mgane, making it a bit shorter but wider than the Sylphy.

Well, at first I did admit that this car was quite nice. It automatically is BETTER than our current model in as many aspects although still lacks tiptronic and still not dual aircon. But I guess now, with the LHD version coming very soon and with the new pics out, my perception is starting to change. Anyways, for those who don't know, this is the new Bluebird Sylphy from Nissan. It is also classfied by its model code named "G11" and will most probably be the next Sentra replacement (with the Tiida/Versa sedan & hatch positioned below it) Originally, Nissan made this car keeping in mind the role of women in our society. In order to symbolize the importance of the working lady and thus this is what Nissan wanted to portray such role & image through this car. Now it doesn't mean that men aren't welcome in this vehicle. It just means that it will give more design preferrence for women (mostly those in the 40s and perhaps including teenagers and those aged 20-30) BUT ultimately, this car caters to all sexes, the young and the old. Unlike the Civic FD, this vehicle caters to a different type of buyer. It would cater to those who want or prefer elegance and premium feel in their C-segment car. So in short, the FD Civic is on radical sportiness, the new Corolla may go for clean sporty look and the G11 strives for the luxury premium of compact cars. Different target buyers indeed. -------- Anyways, I perhaps have only one comment for today. And that is about the presence and distinction between the JDM and China-market models. I noticed that the centre console IMO, it looks better especially if it would go for an all-beige interior motiff. Focusing on one color does things better. So in this case, the lesser black and more beige/brown/wood to go with already beige interior, the BETTER Hope this thread will stay on at least till next week for the China Motor Show where this vehicle will be displayed again.

Dito pa nga lng sa Pinas todo pa luxury effect yang Nissan just look at the Sentra with the Exalta and Grandeur Version... And the term radical... the sylphy also is.

Jul 24 06 8:47 AM Elegant Classic Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	looking at these pictures again, it seems to me like Nissan is once again late in the game. whereas toyota has gone round and bulbous about five years ago with the corolla, and the mazda had followed suit with a curvy 3 as well, the trend nowadays is returning to edgier lines with the civic. albeit staying unique with its design, some of the features may be interpreted as trying a bit too hard, like say the headlamps that are shaped like... i don't know what. That grill has got to go. reminds me of an everest. over all it's a good effort for Nissan, at least they're actually giving an effort in turning out newer cars for the Asian market. which is saying more than Mitsubishi, which seems to have died in the water and is now only so much fish feed.

Jul 24 06 9:42 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The only thing strange about the new Bluebird Sylphy is its proportions, its long but narrow(at least by modern standards). Wheelbase is as long as the Gen 8 Civic's at 2700mm (106.3in) Overall Length is the longest among compacts at 4610mm (181.5in) Overall width is only 1695mm (66.7in) which is the same as the old mid-90's series III Sentra and the smaller Tiida(aka Versa). If there's anything else that makes it look unathletic, it would be the narrow 185/65R15 tires. same size as the one on its shorter platform-mate, the Tiida.
